The greatest achievement is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.
Matthew Henson

Hello young minds. My name is Matthew Henson, and I haven't accomplished much in my life, but my life goal was eventually achieved and success broke through is inviolable barrier and struck many people in many ways.
I'm going to start off with my childhood. It was the 19th century, I was born in Nanjemoy, Maryland, and my parents were free African-American sharecroppers, which was a pretty normal job for any African-Americans after the Civil War ended. Around the age of 4, me and my parents had to move to Washington D.C. in search for better jobs. But, tragically, soon after my move, I was orphaned. My parents died in an "accident". This tragedy was what led me to live with my uncle in Georgetown, Washington, D.C.
I was now 12 years old, and I decided to leave home and work as a cabin boy on a ship called "Katie Hines". This was my first experience at sea, one that I would grow to love.
