Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, born on May 6, 1937, in Clifton, New Jersey, was a professional boxer who became an advocate for justice after being wrongfully convicted of murder. Growing up in a tough neighborhood, Carter found solace in boxing and rose to prominence as a middleweight contender. Despite facing discrimination and adversity, he maintained his innocence and spent nearly 20 years in prison before his conviction was overturned. His friends would describe him as resilient and courageous. Hurricane Carter is remembered for his unwavering commitment to justice and his tireless advocacy for the wrongfully convicted.
