Member of the Little Rock Nine

Carlotta Walls LaNier (December 18, 1942 - Present):

Have you ever thought about the courage it takes to be a trailblazer in the fight for equal education? Carlotta Walls LaNier, born on December 18, 1942, was one of the Little Rock Nine, a group of African American students who bravely integrated Little Rock Central High School in 1957.

Carlotta Walls LaNier's journey involved facing intense racism and hostility as she and her fellow students sought to enroll in an all-white school. LaNier's resilience and courage in the face of adversity paved the way for the desegregation of public schools. Her friends describe her as a symbol of bravery, standing up against injustice for the sake of educational equality. In the annals of civil rights history, Carlotta Walls LaNier is remembered for her pivotal role in the fight against segregation in education.
