Activist and Leader in the Gay Liberation Movement

Marsha P. Johnson (1945 - 1992):
Can you imagine the resilience and courage of an LGBTQ+ activist who played a pivotal role in the early days of the gay rights movement? Marsha P. Johnson, born on August 24, 1945, was a transgender woman of color and a key figure in the Stonewall Uprising of 1969.

Johnson co-founded the Gay Liberation Front and the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR), advocating for the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals. Her activism and visibility paved the way for progress in LGBTQ+ rights. Marsha P. Johnson is remembered as a trailblazer who fought for equality and justice for marginalized communities.
