Arctic Explorer and Navigator

Matthew Henson (1866 - 1955):
What if you discovered the incredible journey of an explorer who played a vital role in reaching the North Pole? Matthew Henson, born on August 8, 1866, was an African American explorer and associate of Robert Peary during their historic expeditions to the Arctic.

Henson's expertise as a navigator and craftsman was instrumental in the success of the expeditions, including the 1909 journey that claimed to reach the North Pole.
