Show Designation FAQ
Hello, Producer! At present, The World Comedy Foundation offers you two types of show designations for weekly show occurrences -- "Feature" and "Mic". You must tag your weekly show occurrence as one of these two types to generate its show page. Please only designate your show as one type. If you are hosting a booked show followed by a mic, please submit two separate show listings.
What's the difference?
When you submit your Show Date, The RAMPANTLY engine automatically generates you a dynamic Show page and a back-end Hosting Page for the show date. These pages vary in their features according to whether the show is a Feature or a Mic. We also use the designation to cross-list your show to various affiliate promotional platforms.
What happens when I mark a show as a Mic?
When you mark a show as Mic, acts can add their name to your show's list via a public page on Laugh.Social. You will receive the link to this page as soon as you add your date. You can also find it manually at the TLD "https://laugh.social/[show-name]/[show#].Producers set their own performer listing guidelines, including how many slots are available on their mic and whether the mic proceeds in sign-up order. Please be sure to include these guidelines in your Mic file. There is no need to repeat these guidelines in your weekly mic description, but you can feel free to add whatever additional notes you'd like.
When comedians list to perform, other cool stuff happens on their end, too. Learn more here.
What happens when I mark a show as a Feature?
When you mark a show as Feature, performers will not be able to list for it from the front end. Instead, you will add your show's acts to your roster via the Hosting page. All you will need is the performer name and headshot. Find the link to the Hosting page under the "Upcoming Shows" heading of your Underground Producer page. Added names will name-match with existing WCF Member accounts, dynamically linking your list to these performers' websites. Additionally, your show occurrence will link to that performer's WCF Tour Dates, further displaying the show on their mobile web if they have one.
Finally, the WCF is in development on a platform called Current, which aggregates Feature show listings for each major city. Once Current goes live, your Features will display here, too.
More on the Hosting Page
When you create a show occurrence, you will trigger a pop-up page containing links to your show pages, including a link to your Hosting page. The Hosting pages are in BETA now. From the Hosting page, you can add acts, rearrange your list order, download your acts' promo tiles to share with them to promote the show, and log additional details about your performers.
