One feels the excitement of hearing an untold story.

John Hope Franklin

My name is John Hope Franklin, I am a historian of the United States, and a former presidnent. In 1979 I served as a president of the American Historical Association. During that moment I made significant contributions. One of them were Scholarship and Leadership. In that category I wrote an essay called "From Slavery to freedom". I wrote about it to let people know about slavery to freedom.

I grew up in Rentiesville, Oklahoma. Growing up in that area was hard, since I witnessed a lot of things at a very young age. One of the things I've witnessed at a very young age were Race Riots in 1921. After I've witnessed those Race Riots, it made me understand more about racial injustice in resilience. Since that left a long impact on me, that is why I was inspired to end racial arguments in my later life.

More things that have led to me to my big day were participating in being a professor. I taught at multiple universities, one specific university I've taught at Howard University, then continued on to be a chairman at Brooklyn College. I've got to this position by trying to get Racial equality. My mission were to first teach many people about Racial equality then move on to writing about Racial equality. I've also continued to teach at more than 3 universities to get this role and to get people to understand more about racism.

During my big day writing an Essay about "From Slavery to freedom" I remember many things. Such as searching through many historical archives for my guide and references. I remember touching brittle pages, as the pages were made of birch wood that were very old. I also remember listening to very old recordings, and history tapes. I felt this needed to be written to spread awareness about the world.

After I've written "From Slavery to Freedom" I've started getting recognition from many people. They've complimented my work and my dedication. Years after my written essay about "From Slavery to Freedom" I was honored a festschrift. I was also elected as a former president of Phi Beta Kappa. I want the world to remember me as an activist, book writer, and more.

Things that are going well in humankind as of now is the less spread of diseases. FOr example, a few years ago we had a lot of diseases like Covid and monkeypox that were really common. Nowadays you can still get those diseases but they aren’t deadly anymore. Plus the increase of vaccines for a lot of deadly diseases. Including the increase of technology. Life has improved since our ancestors since more modern and technologic things are being made. Like how more electronic and gas-powered cars are being made than steam-powered cars. Also instead of steam-powered boats for traveling we have electric boats or planes. Now we have grocery stores and back then they had to make food and find their food naturally. People a really long time ago had flamed torches other than lanterns or electric lights like flashlights. In the world, there is too much of maybe water. But it’s not a problem because we need water. The problem with water in the modern days is the lack of care for it and the people who need it. For example, a lot of people waste water, because the people who need water can’t get any because a lot of people are wasting water. Things that could be better in the world is the increase of trees. A lot of trees around the world are being taken down which is a problem for our environment. Without many trees int he world, we won’t have a lot of oxygen. We need oxygen to breathe. Without oxygen, we could suffocate.
